Exchange

Central to this community is the idea of exchanging sessions with each other in a way that is more flexible than a straight one-for-one exchange.  For example, say I want a Rolfing session from Joe who wants a massage from Sue who would like a personal Yoga training session from Jane who would like a coaching session with Mike who wants an Integrated Awareness session with me. For the five of us to get together and organize this would be quite time consuming and would probably never happen. With this web site I've made it easy to find who you'd like a session from and to set up to have one. It's quite simple: every time you give a session you earn the credit to ask for a session from someone else; and every time you receive a session your credit goes down by one. To get the whole thing started, everybody begins with three credits to receive sessions and promises to give three sessions.

Referrals

I often want to refer my clients to people with practices that compliment my own: I may want to refer a client working on weight loss to a nutritionist and a client dealing with stress to a Yoga teacher. I am much more comfortable referring my clients to people whose work I have experienced personally, so the more people I have received sessions from the better I will be at referring people (and the more people I have given sessions to, the more referrals I am likely to receive).

Many Modalities

Finally, I would like to experience many healing modalities, for both my professional and personal development. I hope that this web site will support the creation of a vibrant and diverse community of healers.

The Healing Exchange is open to any kind of healer including body workers, energy workers, coaches, therapists, spiritualists, etc. If you think you belong in this community, then you probably do. However, The Healing Exchange is only for full-time, professional healers. Also, people who are in the business of selling products (nutritional supplements, magnets or any other products) are not eligible to join The Healing Exchange.
