The Little Grounding Book is a subtle energy manual exploring energetic concepts, with exercises and meditations to aid the reader in feeling more connected to his/her physical body and to the Earth. Being grounded is a first step in healing many physical and emotional conditions and to creating a life of abundance. This is an excellent resource for individuals with ADD. The Little Grounding Book can be purchased from Judith's website. The Little Grounding Kit also includes a foot chakra spray, an amulet, a flower essence combination and a hematite stone to aid in grounding.

The following is an excerpt from the introduction.

WHY GROUND?

The idea of being grounded seems abstract, especially in a culture that is very mental and head-centered.  Most of us have had the experience of feeling "spaced out," the energetic opposite to being grounded.  If these terms are thought of as quite literal descriptions, then being grounded can be thought of as having a sense of the earth under one's feet, of extending down onto and into the earth.

We are here, beings on the Earth, and have physical bodies.  Yet energetically, few of us are fully in our bodies.  Why is this?  Despite the changes that occur as people learn the value of aerobic exercise, we are still a sendentary society that values the mind over the body.  When mental functions are emphasized over the physical, emotional, and spiritual quadrants, an imbalance is inevitable.

Men are taught to stand in a rigid 'military' posture: shoulders back and chest high.  In this position, it is impossible to draw a complete breath.  Women are taught early to be self-conscious, and to hold their stomachs in or wear girdles.  This prevents the natural abdominal expansion necessary for deep breathing.  The resulting rigidity leads to shallow breathing, which automatically triggers the stress response.  Only a small percentage of lung capacity is tapped.  As shallow breathing becomes habitual, the body is deprived of the oxygen it needs to sustain robust health.

Pain - especially emotional pain - is stored in the tissues.  The pelvic region, in particular, is a place where psychic pain is stuffed and stored.  Consider the number of Westerners with back trouble and digestive problems.  Notice the rigidity with which most of us carry this area of our bodies.  Because we tend to breath in a shallow manner, our organs - as well as our spines and hip joints - are held rigidly.

All of these physical habits keep us from being fully alive.  They prevent our vital energy from flowing.  Eventually disease becomes established in areas that are energetically deprived.

Habits come not because we are lazy and undisciplined slouches.  They come because we have not been able to let our e-motions be in motion.  Emotion is a form of energy.  When we have taboos against expressing what we call emotions such as anger, fear, and sadness, we suppress these feelings, storing them in the tissues.

Many people who have sought body work to treat a physical problem have experienced an emotional release or had a memory surface in the midst of treatment.  Sometimes stored emotion/energy/memory can be released without explicitly remembering anything.  There is just a sense of burdens shed and of increased lightness of being.

We cannot be truly healthy, have vitality, and experience joy without being comfortable and at home in our bodies.  As long as we are physical entities, we might as well move all the way into our homes.  A sign in my chiropractor's office says, "If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?"

Much of the pain we feel comes from holding ourselves rigid in order to avoid feeling pain.  What a paradox! As the process of clearing energy blockages proceeds, we can rediscover the exquisite pleasure available within our physical bodies:  being at home, being fully alive, and being sensual tactile beings.
